We see our staff as our most important asset, so when it comes to building our workforce for the future and equipping them with the skills they need, we place great emphasis on our apprenticeship scheme. To achieve this we ensure our apprentices have a real job – one that has been carved out for them, linking training with hands-on experience. Norse apprentices have clearly made an impression among Norse staff and out in the wider world; including schools, the local business sector and among the general public. They have spread the word about the value of apprenticeships with enthusiasm and demonstrated to local companies that apprentices can, and do, make a difference in the workplace.
Once recruited, apprentices gain vocational qualifications in their chosen subject while working in the company’s various departments such as HR or warehousing. The company also offers training in life skills including communication and money management.
We ensure the hard work of our apprentices is recognised in a number of ways. Each year our apprentices have the opportunity to compete for the following awards:
